Working Behind the Scenes on Adoptions

Many people don’t know that Napa Humane spends more than a third of our annual budget helping local animal adoption groups. By subsidizing the true cost of spay/neuter surgeries for the Napa County Shelter, Jameson Animal Rescue Ranch and others, we ensure they can keep adoption fees low, and the number of adoptions high!
We’re a unique humane society because we don’t operate a shelter of our own. Instead, we focus our efforts on preventing unwanted pets in the first place — providing low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to help ensure every litter born is a wanted one. Ours is the only low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Napa County, and we take the job seriously.
Of the 4521 surgeries our clinic performed last year, 1283 were for animals from local adoption and rescue organizations. The hundreds of thousands of dollars these groups didn’t have to spend on spay/neuter at unsubsidized veterinarian offices gives them more cash to care for the animals and find them a forever home. That feels pretty great.
