Prevention in Action: A Helping Hand for Leo and His Dad

Sometimes the pets who become part of our families are the ones we never expected.
Last December, one of our senior community members found himself unexpectedly caring for a cat who had appeared on his doorstep. He had recently experienced a loss and wasn’t sure what to do with his new visitor. But he knew one thing right away: he wanted to do whatever he could to help him.
The cat, soon named Leo, clearly needed some care. He was covered in fleas and had significant hair loss, and his new dad needed guidance on how to help him become healthy and comfortable.
That’s where Napa Humane was able to step in.
A Path to Better Health
With support from our team and a visit to Napa Humane’s Preventive Care Clinic, Leo received the care he needed. His dad was also able to purchase NexGard Plus through our facility to help protect Leo from parasites going forward.
And what a difference that care has made.
Today, Leo is a happy, healthy indoor cat with a big, fluffy, beautiful coat. It’s quite the transformation from the cat who first appeared on the doorstep last December. More importantly, he has found a loving home with someone who was determined to give him a chance.
But Leo’s story didn’t end with that first visit.
Sometimes Support Means a Helping Hand
Because Leo’s dad is older, administering Leo’s monthly medication on his own can sometimes be difficult. When he needs a little extra help, he stops by Napa Humane, where one of our veterinary technicians helps apply Leo’s monthly dose.
It’s a relatively small thing, but it makes a meaningful difference.
For Leo’s dad, it means one less barrier to providing the preventive care his cat needs. For Leo, it means staying protected and healthy in the home where he is loved.
