Helping Pets Stay Healthier, Longer
There’s something undeniably joyful about a healthy pet. Whether it’s the sparkle in their eyes, the bounce in their step, or the way they greet you at the door, our animal companions bring light and love into our lives. At Napa Humane, we believe every pet deserves that chance to thrive—and we’re proud to announce a new resource to help make that possible for even more families in our community.
Thanks to generous community support and a successful spring matching campaign, we’re thrilled to introduce Napa Humane’s Preventive Care Clinic, now open weekly at our Pet Education Center in Napa.
This new initiative expands our services beyond spay/neuter and vaccinations, providing pet parents with access to affordable, high-quality preventive veterinary care. Think of it as your go-to for keeping your furry friend healthy before issues become emergencies—especially for those who might struggle with the cost of traditional veterinary care.
Why Preventive Care?
Many of the most common reasons pets are surrendered to shelters—illness, behavioral challenges, or the financial burden of emergency care—are preventable with early intervention. That’s where our Preventive Care Clinic comes in.
By offering affordable wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite control, microchipping, and treatment for minor issues like ear infections or skin conditions, we can help pet parents catch concerns early—before they become more serious or expensive. In some cases, a simple test or prescription can make the difference between a pet staying with their family or being given up to a shelter.
Our goal is simple: help animals live longer, healthier lives with the people who love them.
A Clinic Built on Compassion
At Napa Humane, we know how much pets mean to their families—especially during challenging times. Veterinary professionals in our area work hard to meet the needs of our community, and we’re grateful for the care they provide. At the same time, we’ve heard from many local pet owners about the barriers they face accessing affordable, preventive services—especially for non-emergency needs. Whether it’s financial strain or difficulty getting an appointment, these challenges can make it hard for families to stay on top of routine care.
Our Preventive Care Clinic helps address those gaps by offering an accessible option for pet parents. Because the clinic focuses exclusively on preventive care and minor issues—not emergencies or complex diagnostics—we’re able to keep our overhead low and our pricing below market rate.
Every visit includes a general health check by a licensed veterinarian to assess your pet’s overall condition. We’ll talk through any concerns, offer guidance, and tailor recommendations to your pet’s age, breed, and lifestyle.
What Services Are Available?
Here are just a few of the services offered at Napa Humane’s Preventive Care Clinic:
- Wellness Exams
- Vaccinations (core vaccines like rabies, distemper/parvo, and feline combo shots)
- Microchipping
- Flea, Tick, and Heartworm Preventives
- Minor Issue Treatment (such as skin rashes, allergies, or ear infections)
- Fecal Testing and Heartworm/Tick-Borne Disease Testing
We don’t offer emergency services, dental procedures, or surgeries through this clinic—but we’re happy to refer clients to trusted full-service veterinary partners when needed.
Supporting Our Mission
The Preventive Care Clinic is a natural extension of Napa Humane’s mission to promote the welfare of companion animals through prevention, education, and support.
For over 20 years, Napa Humane has been a leader in the spay/neuter movement, offering high-quality, low-cost surgeries to reduce pet overpopulation and suffering. Over time, we’ve expanded to include vaccination and microchip clinics, dog training, humane education, and more—all with the goal of keeping pets healthy and in their homes.
By providing affordable preventive care, this new clinic helps ensure that pets—no matter their family’s income—get the support they need to thrive.
