Meet Rupaul May’s Calendar Star

Each month, Napa Humane’s calendar celebrates a pet whose story reflects the connection between animals and the people who love them.
How Rupaul Found His Way to Napa
When Rupaul’s former owner was unable to keep him, his now-owner’s sister agreed to foster him. The moment they met, Rupaul’s new owner instantly fell in love and knew he deserved a safe, loving forever home. Soon after, he made the move to Napa to begin his next chapter.
A Professional Cuddle Bug
Rupaul is affectionate in every sense of the word. He loves curling up in laps, staying close to his person, and making sure no quiet moment goes without a little extra love.
Mornings are especially important to him. When breakfast time approaches, Rupaul climbs onto his owner’s chest and gently places a paw on their face as a not-so-subtle reminder that the day should begin. It is a routine that always gets the message across.
Neighborhood Walks and Flying Hair Elastics
Rupaul has an adventurous and fun spirit. When his owner walks the neighbor’s dog, he likes to join the adventure and explore alongside them.
At home, one of his favorite games involves hair elastics. Toss one into the air and Rupaul is ready to leap into action, catching it mid-flight whenever he gets the chance.
A Story of Strength and Resilience
Over the past year, Rupaul has overcome serious health challenges. He survived a life-threatening urinary blockage that required several days of hospitalization. Just months later, his owner discovered a lump on his neck that turned out to be cancer. Thankfully, the tumor was successfully removed, and today Rupaul is healthy, thriving, and enjoying life at 11 years old.
His journey has deepened the bond he shares with his family and serves as a daily reminder to appreciate every moment together.
His owner noted, “I wake up every day grateful that I get to spend another day with him.”
Why Supporting Napa Humane Matters
Rupaul’s owner supports Napa Humane because of the organization’s commitment to helping both pets and people in the community.
In fact, Rupaul’s owner is now a guardian for two community cats that were able to be spay/neutered and vaccinated at Napa Humane. It was important to Rupaul’s family to help them stay healthy while also supporting responsible population control.
We are happy to celebrate Rupaul as May’s calendar star. Through Napa Humane’s Power of Prevention, more pets in our community can receive the care and support they need to live long, healthy lives in loving homes.
