🐾 Meet the People of Napa Humane: Gaby Luna

When you walk through the doors of the Napa Humane Spay/Neuter Clinic in the morning, there’s a good chance the first face you’ll see is Gaby Luna, our warm and welcoming Client Services Coordinator.

Meet the people of Napa Humane

Since joining the team in November 2023, Gaby has been a driving force behind our front desk operations—checking in clients for surgery, managing drop-offs for feral cats, answering phones and voicemails, scheduling appointments, issuing licenses, and sharing vaccine records with pet owners and vet clinics. In her words:

ā€œIt’s a lot of duties—but I love it.ā€

And her favorite part?

ā€œI can feel I’m making a difference in people’s lives—and I get to see all the adorable pets that come in!ā€

Gaby has a strong belief in spay/neuter—not just in theory, but in practice. All three of her dogs are fixed, and she’s a proud advocate for the health benefits and community impact of doing so.

ā€œI wish more people understood that spaying and neutering is truly the best thing you can do for your pets—and their health.ā€

One success story that stands out to Gaby involves a client who began with just two unfixed female cats he was caring for. As litters of kittens continued to arrive, he made it his mission to bring every single one in for surgery—over 20 cats in total.

He recognized how quickly the population could spiral and became fully committed to ensuring they were all spayed and neutered.

ā€œHe’s so grateful every time he comes in. He clearly loves them, and he’s doing the right thing for all of them.ā€

Gaby’s love for animals doesn’t stop when she leaves work—her home is just

as full of furry (and hoofed) companions.Ā She shares her life with a joyful crew of pets, including her 12-year-old quarter horse, who she affectionately describes as ā€œa pain in the butt but my love.ā€Ā  She is excited to get back in the saddle soon, after taking a break toĀ  a welcome a new human family member too—a beautiful baby girl!

Gaby’s crew of pups include Lyla, her loyal 8-year-old blue heeler; Celeste, a 3-year-old husky/blue heeler mix she adopted as a puppy from the Vallejo shelter, where Gaby was formerly the medical lead; and Cirilo, aka Pulgitas (ā€œlittle tickā€), an energetic 8.5-month-old blue heeler/border collie mix who she lovingly calls ā€œthe menace of the three.ā€

Gaby grew up surrounded by animals on a ranch, which planted the seed for her career in animal welfare.

ā€œI always wanted to be a vet—but that’s a lot of school for me šŸ˜…. Still, I’ve always loved animals and knew I wanted to be in the field.ā€

When asked what animal she’d be, Gaby says:

ā€œDefinitely a horse—so I could just run away from the craziness of life!ā€

Despite her many horse-related spills over the years, she’s never broken a bone—a fact that surprises even her.

Whether she’s helping clients navigate their appointments, sharing resources, or just greeting people with a smile, Gaby is a huge part of what makes Napa Humane a warm, welcoming place for animals and the people who love them.
