In 2025, Napa Humane performed more than 4,300 spay and neuter surgeries across Napa County, operating 249 surgical days serving dogs, cats, and rabbits from local families, shelters, and rescue partners.
To ensure prevention services remain accessible, Napa Humane provided 422 income-qualified surgeries, delivering more than $563,000 in direct subsidies to support families who might otherwise be unable to afford care.
These surgeries prevent thousands of unintended litters and reduce pressure on shelters.
Community Cats

These surgeries help stabilize colony populations, reduce nuisance behaviors, and prevent future litters across neighborhoods throughout Napa County.
By reducing uncontrolled breeding, the program also helps decrease strain on the Napa County Animal Shelter and local rescue organizations.

Napa Humane works closely with the Napa County Animal Shelter to support the health and well-being of animals in their care. In 2025, our veterinary team provided spay and neuter surgeries for shelter animals awaiting adoption, helping pets become adoption-ready more quickly and improving outcomes for animals entering the shelter system.
In addition to surgical services, Napa Humane provided 300 hours of on-site veterinary support across 51 shelter rounds, assisting with disease prevention, medical protocols, and standards of care.
Through this partnership, Napa Humane helps strengthen the shelter’s ability to care for animals in need while supporting the broader animal welfare system in Napa County.

In addition to spay and neuter services, Napa Humane provides preventive veterinary care to help pets stay healthy and protected. Through community vaccine clinics and the newly launched Preventive Care Clinic, thousands of pets received essential services in 2025. These programs help families access basic veterinary care, protect pets from preventable disease, and ensure animals remain healthy and safely in their homes.
Dog Training

To support continued learning in the classroom, Napa Humane distributed more than 2,800 Kind News subscriptions, helping teachers bring lessons about empathy and animal care into their classrooms.
Other Community Programs
Wellness Clinics
Napa Humane hosted one community wellness clinic in 2025, providing preventive care services to 61 pets. During the clinic, our veterinary team administered 49 vaccines and helped connect pets to further care, resulting in 39 spay and neuter surgeries scheduled following the event.
Notably, 44% of the pets seen at the clinic were visiting a veterinarian for the first time, highlighting the importance of accessible outreach services in connecting families with veterinary care.
Pet Assistance and Support Program
Napa Humane’s Pet Assistance Services (PAS) program supports the pets of individuals experiencing housing instability by working directly with clients served through Abode Services. The program helps ensure that pets remain healthy and cared for while their guardians navigate challenging circumstances.
In 2025, the program served 27 pets, providing services such as spay and neuter surgery, vaccinations, preventive care clinic services, and dog training support.
Rehoming Support
Napa Humane provides guidance and resources to families facing difficult decisions about their pets. Through our rehoming support resources, pet owners can access tools and guidance to help responsibly rehome animals when keeping them is no longer possible.
These resources help reduce unnecessary shelter intake while supporting families during challenging transitions.
Behavioral Help Line
Napa Humane offers a behavioral help line to assist pet owners with common training and behavior challenges. Through this service, families can receive guidance and support before issues escalate, helping pets remain safely in their homes.
This service helps address challenges early, reducing the risk that behavior issues lead to surrender or rehoming.
Scholarships for Veterinary Careers
Napa Humane also invests in the future of veterinary medicine by offering scholarships to students pursuing careers in animal care and veterinary medicine. These scholarships help support the next generation of professionals dedicated to improving animal welfare in our community.
